Approach to Treatment
I am committed to delivering evidence-based treatments tailored to my clients’ needs. I have expertise in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and emotion dysregulation.
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming — unlike medical treatment, there are fewer guideposts for the general public in finding effective, science-based care. Making the first call or email, arriving at a new office, and sitting in the waiting room are anxiety provoking for everyone. Deciding to tolerate those feelings is admirable, and the benefits of therapy are well worth the investment. A recent NPR article, How To Start Therapy is an excellent overview of this process.
In working together, I will help you to identify patterns of thinking that no longer serve you, and to manage emotions that interfere with living your best life. I teach evidence-based techniques that, once mastered, will allow you to continue the work of therapy independently.
“A person who has been ‘made aware of himself’ by the questions he has been asked is in a better position to predict and control his own behavior.”
